The restoration of the Zeppelin Tower was completed with the end the 2nd Stage in April 2013. The work of Jobson Figueiredo by Artesanal company, with its decades of experience in the restoration of historical elements, presents the formal rigor and criteria of this kind of restorations. The whole process was documented and will be turn on a book with documents, photos and registration of the restoration. This book, in addition to its documentary character, will have an educational content to students of the area.
Thanks to the mapping done in 1st Stage (in 2007), the 2nd Stage was carried out safely. The long process of restoration involves several actions, of which we can highlight: stabilizing the tower; replacement of all parts that had irreversible damage; repairs preserving as much as possible of the original parts to keep the body and soul of old equipment of world aviation; removal, through mechanical process, of tower layers of paint to gather information from the old original colors; sandblasting of parts; total cleaning and repair of the old restoration errors.
This work represents the heart of Jiquiá Park, the cornerstone of a project with great cultural, social, scientific and tourism power for the city of Recife. The quality and formal rigor of the restoration will allow the society enjoy the important places of Recife, which must be preserved for many generations.
